{Movie Inspired Weddings} Up, Up and Away!

Pixar’s “Up” demonstrates the never-ending adventure of a love story. An adventure inspired by both childhood memories and childhood dreams, “Up” allows us to fall in love all over again. Today we want to share with you some inspiration that is filled with color, especially pops of yellow! To avoid a messy scheme, we’ve rounded up a few key essentials from the film to keep a color-filled wedding still simple and sweet.

Bridesmaid dresses inspired by 60’s silhouettes and bow ties for the groom and groomsmen are a fun way to dress the bridal party. Don’t be afraid to mix and match fabrics and patterns when choosing dresses or bow ties, as long as the color stays similar. Also brides, have fun with your outfit too. Our veil above from Something Borrowed will add the perfect touch of fun to your elegant dress.

As far as décor and food, balloon inspired details are a must! Use them as cake toppers or create a simple back drop for the ceremony. An exciting way to add color is fabric or scrap bunting. Not only can you customize them yourself but it will save you a lot of money too. Vintage suitcases and mailboxes are a great way to hold wedding cards and small gifts. Last but not least, do not forget the fruit sodas! They will entertain your guests throughout the reception.

{Movie Inspired Weddings} The Phantom of the Opera

The "Phantom of the Opera" is a classic story of love, lust, and tragedy. In 2006 it was brought to life on the big screen and managed to capture the hearts and imagination of many. For couples seeking a unique, dramatic theme for their wedding, a Phantom inspired production is an idea not to be overlooked - especially if you both loved the play, and/or film. The movie itself offers thousands of ideas you can incorporate to create that old theatre-esque look. Here are some photos showcasing how flexible this theme can be for your special day.

Key Elements: Ballgown-like wedding dress, French Chateaux inspired venue, Roses, Chandeliers, Red & Black, Draped effect, Lace, Pearls, Crystals, Candles, Intricate details, and musical entertainment.

{Movie Inspired Weddings} Safe Haven

"I love you and I can't let you go. There's no safer place for you than here with me."
 - Nicholas Sparks

When it comes to planning a East Coast, beachy, nautical themed wedding - I found a great deal of inspiration from the latest Nicholas Sparks movie, Safe Haven. The entire setting is absolutely gorgeous, and there is definitely a natural essence of love radiating from those ocean waves and blue skies alone. Whether you live along the Atlantic or not - you can recreate this feeling anywhere.

Below you will find my personal interpretation of Safe Haven - and how I translated it into a timeless, glamorous, yet carefree, shabby chic wedding. When it comes to my explanations, I will try my best not to use too many spoilers.

Enjoy!

"The Bike" - If you've read the book, or watched the movie you know the significance of it to this story - however, it ties in just as well to the theme by using it as a cute directive sign for a fun flare item.

{Movie Inspired Weddings} The Great Gatsby

"I love her and that's the beginning and the end of everything
-F. Scott Fitzgerald

A few words might come to mind when you think of the classic novel turned movie, The Great Gatsby. Glamour, romance, sophistication - the 1920's provides plenty of elements you can incorporate into your wedding to generate a very similar feeling. If you are a vintage-glam loving bride, this look is absolutely perfect for you!

Here we go! There are a few key elements to pulling off this look - let me talk you through a few of them, as well as provide you with some samples.

For starters, nothing says GATSBY like some diamonds and pearls (Really, all things that sparkle will do):

Next, LACE, and feathers are a must:

Lastly, a marriage of silver AND gold details:

So there you have it! Some of the key elements of the Great Gatsby look - for further searching I found it helpful to use phrases such as "art deco wedding", "1920s inspired wedding" and "vintage glam wedding" - sometimes even "classic Hollywood wedding".

When searching for items - crystals, ostrich feathers, gold, silver, pearls, diamonds, deco, metallic, and vintage were great key terms to include. Extra emphasis on the ostrich feathers and diamonds.

The Great Gatsby look: Glamour. Romance. Sophistication.
